Scotch Pancakes

Makes: 10 pancakes


  • 1 cup of flour (can be substituted with whole wheat flour)
  • pinch of salt
  • 50 ml sugar
  • 7 ml baking powder
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 12 ml oil
  • 125 ml milk (or more as needed)


  1. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder together. Add the sugar
  2. Add the egg, oil and milk to the dry ingredients and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  3. Use non-stick spray in a frying pan and heat on the stove
  4. Place spoonfuls of the batter on the greased surface and fry until bubbles appear and start to pop (the underside should be golden brown)
  5. Turn the pancake and cook the other side until golden brown

Serve with jam or syrup
